About Brandon:

Hello! I'm Brandon Rupp, a first year PhD student in English Language and Film and Media Studies at Yale University. I spend a lot of time reading, watching, listening to, and analyzing 20th and 21st century art and criticism.

Before returning to academia, I spent a year as a project manager at Epic Systems, where I worked with cardiologists and cardiovascular technologists in places like Denver, Sacramento, Harvard Medical School teaching hospitals, and my primary customer, Children's National Hospital in Washington D.C.

I have had my academic work featured at the Smithsonian Institution and mentioned in Rolling Stone; wrote my undergrad thesis at Stanford on the 20th century interweaving of literature and film (reading through Thomas Pynchon and Paul Thomas Anderson); conducted research at the Stanford Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law under Dr. Didi Kuo; designed and taught a course officially affiliated with Stanford; edited for the Stanford Undergraduate Law Review; and interviewed figures such as Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner, Rufus Wainwright, and Alex G. 

Creatively, I ran the Flying Horse Films production company; directed recognized films; goofed around on stage as a player with Stanford Improv; and wrote and produced numerous sold out theatrical productions.
